A beautiful, 1,500-acre park and nature area. It includes a 40-room mansion, formal gardens, statuary, natural prairie, forests, and walking trails. The park is open to the public year-round until dusk. The mansion is a conference center.
Allerton Park is owned by the University of Illinois and hosts several annual events, including the annual Allerton Music Barn Festival and monthly concerts in the park.
The old historic bridge entrance into Allerton Park, which was closed in 2001, was reconstructed and reopened in 2012, allowing visitors to enter through the memorable tree-lined road south of the park.
