About the Park-

Initially called "City Park," Pfc. Robert Burke Park was renamed in honor of a local hero. Robert Charles Burke was a US Marine who was killed in action May 17, 1968 during the Vietnam War and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. Private First Class Burke at age 18, was the youngest Medal of Honor recipient during the Vietnam War.

The City will be completing a significant renovation of the park in summer of 2025, with reconstruction of the tennis and basketball courts, playground and gazebo. A memorial plaza honoring Pfc. Burke and his heroic story was constructed, as well as pickleball courts, walking paths, new parking and amphitheater with performance shell.
